Time for Yoga. Benefits of Yoga practice
A few simple hints on motivation for and importance of Yoga are in the "Finding time for your Yoga practice" article. Another place to look at is the article on benefits of Yoga practice...
Here I would like to tell you a story...
A wheelchair lady Yoga practitioner. Does Yoga look hard to you?
Some time ago there was a person in my class. She practiced Yoga already for 12 years and there was something all of us can learn from her. In fact, I would say that it is a great luck to meet a person like her - advanced in Yoga, with understanding and positive acceptance of life as it is. It is rare luck to meet a person like her even among people who call themselves Swamis ("monks" in Yoga). And I would like to share with you my joy from what she reminded me. I would like to put what we all have and take for granted in prospective...
Here it is in short:
She came in a wheelchair, crawled on her arms on the stairs and then into an asana room (there was no appropriate entrance for disabled). - Basically whole bottom part of her body was paralyzed and in addition she had issues with one of her arms. She didn't asked for any special assistance and she was adapting asanas to the best of her abilities. And she has a wonderful smile...
She knows what we are given in life is to be used wisely, with care and gratitude, ...bravely. Step by step. Was Yoga hard for her? Is it hard for you? Does this say something about importance of Yoga?
...Sometimes I hear complaints that people don't want come to a Yoga center because it takes them, say, 20 min instead of 10 minutes they willing to spend. There are millions of similar excuses. The story above is a reminder, motivation-story for all of us. Think about it. If that lady makes such an effort to come for a Yoga practice:
It does worth it.
It's much easier for most of us...
No need to wait till your health deteriorates with years because you don't take care about it... or due to a particular health issue... or because of constant stress and emotional problems... Yoga tools are here for you to help. Today. Try.
Motivation for your life due to Yoga practice
That's not all. Interestingly, you will have more motivation for other projects besides Yoga. Simply because with Yoga practice you will feel more alive, will have more energy, be stronger and healthier, with your mind calmer and more focused...
Yoga - is a set of instruments, which help you with your goals. Any goals. Yoga itself also represent the goal - that was discussed a bit in "What is Yoga" article and will be discussed more in details in some other, "advanced", sections of the project. Importance of Yoga and uniqueness of it will become even more apparent.
