Features
Fat-Blasting Yoga: 21 Days to a Better Body by Denise Austin (DVD - 2003) is a good fitness workout but not a great yoga workout.
Special Features included on the yoga DVD are scene index, interactive menus, and Denise Austin trailer.
The total running time of the yoga DVD is 60 minutes. This DVD claims to have three workouts: 30 minutes of traditional yoga, 15 minutes of upper and lower body toner, and 15 minutes of core strength. However, the yoga DVD is not divided into separate workouts and you must simply choose by chapters if you want to do less than the 60 minutes.
Pros
Good cardio - this workout will really get your blood flowing and help you burn fat.
Fun - most users find Denise Austin either fun and inspiring or annoying. Her peppiness can be motivating and energizing.
Cons
Not for beginners - this program is definitely not for the beginning yoga practitioner. There is very little instruction on correct posing technique and the program moves fairly fast for a beginner.
More fat blasting than yoga - it is very cardio-oriented but not very yoga-oriented. It is more of an aerobic workout with a yoga twist. I would have preferred a yoga workout with a cardio twist.
Poor instruction - while a great fitness guru, Denise Austin does not inspire confidence as a yoga instructor. She may incorporate yoga into her own exercise routine but I am unsure if she has any formal training as a yoga instructor.
Fat-Blasting Yoga: 21 Days to a Better Body yoga DVD summary
If you are an exercise buff who is simply looking to add some variety to your routine, then this may be the yoga DVD for you. Fans of Denise Austin will enjoy this workout. If you find her too peppy, Fat-Blasting Yoga: 21 Days to a Better Body will only annoy and frustrate you. If you are looking to begin a yoga practice, I recommend purchasing a yoga DVD by a regular yoga practitioner rather than an aerobics instructor looking to branch out.
